Lucy Jakob-Boyle

Lucy (GGWA) joined Girl Guides 13 years ago with the simple desire for fun, to learn new practical skills, and spend time outdoors doing cool activities with her friends. 13 years later and Girl Guides Australia (GGA) still remains relevant to her life but in a very different way. Now, she is able to participate in GGA’s decision-making process through the Young Women’s Forum, advocating and representing young women and the issues that affect them at a local, state and national level. GGA was able to stay relevant to what Lucy needed throughout her life and has given Lucy opportunities to grow her sense of self, purpose, and community. Lucy will never forget the time she shadowed an MP for a day as a part of the Girls Takeover Parliament Program, or the memories made when her Unit visited the World Centers’, Pax Lodge and Our Chalet. Lucy wants to ensure that GGA stays relevant and representative to young women in Australia and continues to provide opportunities for young women to grow their skills and take an active role in addressing the issues that are important to them.
