Girl Guides Learning : The R.E.A.L Experience
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), introduced the acronym R.E.A.L to assist Leaders with program planning.
To plan and monitor the quality of learning experience, Leaders can check that they are R.E.A.L. That is:
Relevant
Is a topic or experience that the Girl Guides feel is relevant to their lives?
Does it use tools they are interested in?
Exciting
Are the Girl Guides enthusiastic and engaging with the Girl Guide experience on offer and are the Leaders engaging with the girls to create these experiences?
Accessible
Are the Girl Guides able to access Girl Guiding in a format that suits them?
Are their specific needs being consider and what are you doing to reduce barriers to participate?
Learner-Led
Are the Girl Guides directing their own learning and development?
are they making decisions at all levels of their Girl Guide experience?
