Girl Guides Learning : Responsibilities of Managers working with Managers in training

Responsibilities

When a manager in training starts in a district or region she will immediately become part of your team and will start to work in that team. A very important part of being a part of this team will be the opportunities to work together to assist her learning and journey to qualification.

The Management Qualification Passport not only holds the tasks which a manager in training will complete but also a lot of information that will assist you in your role when working with a manager in training.

The first half of the Passport contains all the practical aspects of the role. The second half of the Passport contains tasks which will continue to build understanding of the role and responsibilities.

It is important to remember that a manager in training needs to demonstrate that she understands her responsibilities as a manager and that she has understood how to carry them out. She is not expected to demonstrate the capability of an experienced manager nor to have carried out everything perfectly. In her Passport there are places to reflect on how each task was carried out and what she might do to improve, which is for her Mentor to discuss with her.

Listed below are the direct responsibilities for managers working with managers in training. Your support, encouragement and understanding are the most valuable part of your role in taking the journey to qualification with a manager in training.
