Girl Guiding New Zealand Jamboree 2027 – Awa2027

Girl Guiding New Zealand invites Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from all over the world to camp together for a week of fun, discovery, and adventure at their Jamboree in Mystery Creek in January 2027. GGNZ are planning a varied and exciting program embracing the spirit of Girl Guiding, including a range of adventurous, creative, and cultural activities with many opportunities to meet new friends. You’ll get to travel with the rest of the Australian contingent to Auckland for adventures and sightseeing before heading off to the beautiful Waikato region, central North Island New Zealand to start 6 days of Jamboree. After Jamboree the contingent will return to Auckland for flights to return to Australia.

Dates: 12 January 2027 – 21 January 2027

Location: Mystery Creek Events Centre in the Waikato region, central North Island New Zealand.

Opportunity:

10 Adults – aged 18+

50 Girls – ages 12.5 to 17 (as at 1 February 2027)

Eligibility:

Adult Applicants must be:

  • A member of a State Girl Guide Organisation
  • Aged 18yrs and over (as at 10 January 2027)
  • Compliant with all CSCF, Code of Conduct and State compliance requirements (such as First Aid, CPR and police checks)
  • Physically and mentally capable to camp outdoors with a good level of fitness, including ability to walk long distances over uneven ground (over 10km per day), to carry their own bags, to camp in lightweight tents without a stretcher and participate in activities to supervise the girls
  • Experienced outdoor campers having attended multiple Guide camps including a large camp (eg State or National). A current outdoor camping qualification is highly desirable
  • Excited to support girls to be part of an International Jamboree as an ambassador for Girl Guides Australia
  • Ready to make international guiding connections

Girl Applicants must be:

  • A member of a State Girl Guide Organisation
  • Aged between 12.5yrs and 17yrs old – born between 1 February 2009 and 1 August 2014. Girls will participate in the Jamboree Ranger Program which requires this age
  • Physically and mentally capable to camp outdoors with a good level of fitness, including ability to walk long distances over uneven ground (over 10km per day) and to carry their own bags
  • Experienced outdoor campers having attended multiple Guide camps including a recent large camp (eg State or National). Must hold Camping Trefoil 2 and have 1-2 nights lightweight camping experience
  • Excited to be part of an International Jamboree as an ambassador for Girl Guides Australia
  • Ready to make international guiding connections

 Cost:

Adults:               Estimated A$3,000 to A$4,000 per person
Girls:                  Estimated A$4,000 to A$5,000 per person

Event pricing is based on current exchange rates and flight cost estimates and may vary over time. Extra costs may be incurred

 

Includes:

  • Jamboree Fees – includes activities, food, accommodation camping in tents, transport during the Jamboree, and a Jamboree kit (event shirt and hat)
  • International Return Airfares from Sydney/Melbourne to Auckland.*
    * Departure point is to be advised once contingent participants are selected.
  • Girl Guides Australia travel insurance
  • 2 nights in Auckland prior to Jamboree with accommodation in hostel style dormitory accommodation, transport, activities and sightseeing
  • 1 night in Auckland post Jamboree prior to return flights to Australia. (Optional night depending on flight availability)
  • Girl Guides Australia International scarf & badge
  • Australian contingent shirt and badge(s)

Excludes:

  • Domestic return travel to the Australian departure point (expected to be Sydney / Melbourne)
  • Any personal spending money, mobile phone fees, passports and visas
  • Hire of additional Jamboree equipment and any additional Jamboree off-site expedition costs. More information will be provided by the Jamboree organisers
  • Extra costs incurred should a participant need to return to Australia early
