Girl Guide Biscuits
More than just a tasty snack!
Girl Guide Biscuits raising funds for Girl Guiding in Australia
For more than 60 years Girl Guides around Australia have proudly sold Girl Guide Biscuits in our communities to our families, friends, supporters and businesses. They are certainly an icon of Girl Guiding and a valuable symbol of our connection with the broader community.
For 2020 we are launching an exciting new range of biscuits that are free from artificial additives, artificial flavours, preservatives and importantly are palm oil free. There will be a selection of three biscuits, an ANZAC, a Triple Chocolate and Gluten free Lemon, Lime and Coconut biscuit. Each biscuit will be 50g and individually wrapped.
As they will be sold individually, the biscuits need to be packaged individually to retain their freshness and meet food hygiene requirements. We understand our members concerns about the environment and are pleased to share that the new biscuits use approximately 20% less plastic packaging per 50g product when comparing to the Traditional biscuits and similar to the chocolate chip biscuits and the shortbread sold this year.
Biscuits will be packaged in display boxes ready for sale in local communities. All biscuit packaging will be labelled Girl Guides, so the biscuits will continue to be a reminder of Girl Guiding. The cardboard packaging will be made using recycled content and also be fully recyclable. The biscuit wrappers are also recyclable. Soft plastics can be recycled via the soft plastic recycle bins at any Woolworths or Coles supermarkets or local councils will be able to advise where there are soft plastic bin locations in local communities.
Our 2020 range showcases our commitment to being responsible members of the community and our recognition that environmental sustainability is one of the most important issues currently facing the planet. To produce this new range has meant that we will not be offering the Trefoil biscuits in our 2020 campaign. While this may be disappointing for some members, the new range is aligned to our values and shows that we stand by what we say we believe in.
Girl Guides Australia are committed to supporting a sustainable future and we will continue to work with our suppliers to reduce our impact.
