Chief Commissioner Application
Girl Guides Australia is delighted to announce that it is seeking applications for the role of Chief Commissioner to commence 1 January 2018.
The role of Chief Commissioner is to lead Guiding in Australia and ensure the proper governance and effective administration of Girl Guides Australia as a Member Organisation of WAGGGS. The Chief Commissioner is the Chair of the Board of Girl Guides Australia. Any adult member of a State Girl Guide Organisation may apply for the position.
There are many opportunities and challenges for Girl Guides Australia over the next few years. The Chief Commissioner will be a person with the skills and capacity to work with the Board and our Chief Executive to implement our mission of empowering girls and young women in a way that develops the relevance of Girl Guiding in the current social context. The Chief Commissioner will provide a strong, stable focus for our strategic development.
The appointment of the Chief Commissioner is made by the Board of Girl Guides Australia and is for a term of three years. This appointment may be extended for up to a further two years by mutual agreement.
The Board of Girl Guides Australia has also introduced a role of Deputy Chair, which will work closely with the Chief Commissioner. Advertising for the Deputy Chair role will occur following the appointment of the Chief Commissioner.
