International Day of the Girl 2018
In 2012, the United Nations declared 11 October as the annual International Day of the Girl (IDG). It’s a day to promote girls’ human rights and tackle gender inequality, discrimination and the abuse suffered by girls around the world. 17 new Global Goals were agreed in 2017 which represent an ambitious agenda to end poverty, fight climate change, and tackle all forms of inequality by 2030. In 2018 our focus is on Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
WAGGGS has been part of IDG since its inception and every year have a theme in celebration of the day. This year WAGGGS have produced supporting resources for members which is aimed at raising awareness on gender equality, equal opportunities and stopping violence.
WAGGGS 2018 Day of the Girl Activity Pack (available HERE) is about unlocking our potential and using our combined #TeamGirl power to fight gender inequality.
