Girl Guides, membership and COVID-19
Girl Guides Australia acknowledge the impact COVID-19 continues to have on Australia and the global community. Girl Guides Australia is committed to minimising the impact and preventing its transmission. While the pandemic is challenging, many of our Units and Leaders are adapting by taking activities online, demonstrating leadership and looking at facilitating Guiding activities in new ways.
Girl Guides Australia thanks all of those who are facing these challenges with determination and kindness – it is gratifying to see the principles of our movement in action.
Each State and Territory are at a different stage in its effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and as such, State Girl Guide Organisations (SGGO) need to respond with measures that suit local circumstances.
SGGOs are best placed to make decisions that reflect their community and will communicate their plans directly with their members.
Girl Guides Australia will continue to support SGGOs during this time of uncertainty and will monitor advice from the Australian Government and State health services. Each SGGO will update their membership as necessary.
We appreciate your understanding and support during this time. During this national health crisis, the Girl Guide Promise and Law is as important as ever. We encourage all our members that while maintaining social distancing they remain connected with their family, friends and communities.
