Financial Assistance

It is better to give, than to receive

Financial assistance may be available for members travelling to events within Australia and overseas. Not all events will meet the requirements for financial assistance. Donations to funds by units, members or general public are welcome and appreciated (individual donations over $2 are tax deductible), giving the ability to offer more assistance to more members. A number of different funds are available and you can find more information on this page, or from your State International Adviser.

Wilma Torney Fund

As Wilma Torney was a woman who dedicated her life to Guiding and training within Guiding, her friends and family established a fund to be used to assist in Leader training in Girl Guides Australia. There are three different areas that are covered and available.

Eleanor Manning Fund

Selected training events within the Asia Pacific Region are specified by the Australian Learning & Development Committee each year. The Eleanor Manning fund will provide an annual grant to assist one or more Australian Trainers to attend the selected training events.

The Irene Fairbairn Fund

The Irene Fairbairn Fund (IFF) was established in 1955. The IFF aims to help girls and leaders to attend special projects, trainings, camps and conferences in Australia and overseas. Only 95% of the income received in any given year is available the following year, hence donations are always appreciated. The IFF is primarily for members aged between 13 and 35 years, but a 15% provision is allowed for members outside of the suggested age bracket. You can download the

The Gregory Fellowship

In recognition of Mr Reg Gregory, a former Treasurer of the Girl Guides Association of Victoria, a foundation member of the Olave Baden-Powell Society, a Director of the Olave Baden-Powell Society, and a Secretary and Trustee for the Sidney Myer Fund, the Gregory Fellowship was established in 1991 with a donation of $100,000 by the Sidney Myer Fund. The Gregory Fellowship is a 'PEOPLE' fund which provides financial assistance for projects which will benefit Guiding, both in Australia and overseas.
