Areas of Development

The Australian Adult Leadership Program focuses on six areas of development:

Fundamental Modules relate to content which is specific to Guiding including the fundamental principles of Guiding, the Australian Guide Program and its implementation and our place in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

Program Modules relate to the skills needed to run programs for girls and adults in Units, Districts and Regions.

Network Modules relate to accessing resources of all kinds including written materials, people, places and organisations.

Outdoor Modules relate to the skills needed to ensure that outdoor activities are an integral part of the program for girls and adults. Training Modules relate to the skills needed to help others to develop leadership skills through their involvement in Guiding.

Most Leaders come to Guiding with a wealth of experience. Girl Guides Australia is keen to recognise this and ensure that becoming a Qualified Leader is as straightforward as possible.

You will be linked with a Guiding Partner, who has been trained to ensure that your existing skills are recognised and to assist you to identify areas where you need further training. Your Guiding Partner will answer any questions you may have about the Australian Adult Leadership Program and your own situation.

Each State has a Training Manager who can be contacted for information about this program.

Please contact your State Training Adviser for more information.
